Carina will read aloud from her newly published book, Feast and Famine: The Last Great Heir (Sourcebooks, 2025). Feast and Famine is a middle-grade fantasy series targeted toward ages 9-13 but designed to be enjoyed by readers of all ages!

In the first two chapters of Feast and Famine: The Last Great Heir, which is set in a magical kingdom, the reader is introduced to Rue and then Merri—two 12-year-old girls who are faced with challenges that a reader of any age, gender or culture can relate to.

In the book, Carina includes a recipe for Fauret Patisserie’s Famous Cream Puffs, which will be the “highlight” snack served at the WordSprouts event.

In her Acknowledgements, Carina concludes with an encouraging note to the reader: “And finally, thank you, reader. I hope you’ve had fun ramping around with Merri and Rue, but most of all, I hope it made you want to invent your own world to wander.”

Carina Finn is a food-obsessed writer, editor and content creator. Her debut middle-grade novel, Feast and Famine: The Last Great Heir, became an instant New York Times bestseller. She has written for numerous publications, including Bon Appétit, Epicurious, Food Network Magazine, Eater, Bustle and others. She splits her time between Brooklyn and upstate New York and loves sharing her adventures in cooking, eating and writing on social media. Find her everywhere on the internet at @sheneedsasnack. Carina is most active on Instagram, TikTok, and Substack

Carina’s favorite Coop snack is Kona Cashews! Carina said about her favorite Coop shift: “I love working checkout because it’s fascinating to see how other people shop, and I always discover new things I didn’t know we sold.”

Carina’s presentation will be followed by questions from the audience and drinks and snacks courtesy of the Coop (don’t miss Fauret Patisserie’s Famous Cream Puffs!). Carina will be available to sign copies of Feast and Famine: The Last Great Heir, and she will bring some copies to sell. The book is available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, as well as other booksellers. The second book in the series, Feast and Famine: The Unbreakable Crown can be pre-ordered (2/3/26 release date) at Barnes & Noble and Amazon
